NWEA MAP Support

Purpose

The purpose of this page is to provide resources and support for both administrators and teachers administering NWEA MAP to students.

Helpful Links for Teachers/Administrators

  • When students need to use the bathroom during a test, you can:

1) Select their name from the list and then click "Select Action" and click "Pause". When they return, you can resume their test.

2) Have the child close their screen halfway and use the bathroom, then open it back up when they return. This prevents you from having to pause. Be aware that this will impact the time results that tell how long it took them to finish the test.

  • If a child accidentally exits the test and can't get back in:

Step 1: On the MAP portal, select the student's name and click "Suspend". Then click their name again and click "Test Again".

Step 2: Then, completely restart their computer and reopen the NWEA Map application. You should be able to find their name on the list. If you can't find their name, follow these same steps again.

TIP #1 Tracking Student Completion of MAP

As a former teacher who administered MAP tests to students for 8 years, one thing that I found helpful was using a student checklist for tracking students who had completed the test. When a student finished their test, I used the checklist to mark that they had completed the test. This is important because when you sign in to MAP to test for a second day (if needed), it will not tell you who has completed the test unless you download the report. This prevented me from having to download the report within MAP each time. Providing this roster to each teacher also helps testing coordinators track students for make-up testing and determine which classes still needed to finish MAP testing.

Click THIS LINK to get a copy of a blank roster template to distribute to each teacher who will be proctoring for MAP.

This template can be used in the following ways:

1) Principals or testing coordinators can print this template out for each teacher and ask teachers to write up their rosters. Be sure to provide one sheet for each test they need to administer.

2) If time permits, testing coordinators can:

First, make multiple copies of the document to ensure that there is one for each teacher for each test that needs to be administered.

Then, type the names of students for each class that needs to test into the document for the teacher(s).

Next, the testing coordinators can distribute to teachers prior to testing, asking teachers to make sure their lists are accurate prior to testing.

*This allows the testing administrators to make sure everyone in the MAP system is on the roster that the teacher approves.
